shia labeouf could play Donald O'Connor in a biopic, y/y? Especially with the "boof" hair he's got going for Indiana Jones at the moment. He's the right age to play young Donald - 21!

Thought it was pretty cool. :D

Introduction: Sim [18 Nov 2007|09:11pm]

Hi everyone!!

My name is Sim. I joined a little while ago but thought I better post an introduction :)

I discovered Donald in Singin' in the Rain in around June/July. I was intrigued as soon as he came on the screen, but I fell in love when I saw 'Make 'em Laugh'.

I started searching all over the internet for more information and pictures and now I'm completley obsessed.

And that's that. I'd love to meet some other fans, so feel free to comment or email me :)

question. [19 Jul 2007|11:18pm]

Hey, I forgot to get my Call Me Madam DVD from my grandparents' place today so I can't cap or icon it (which I really want to do!) so I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find the screencaps - particularly the What Chance Have I With Love? scene (the balloons are haunting me!)

Much thanks!

I've been lurking a bit, but I thought I'd introduce myself. Sort of.

Actually, I had my scanner working for a milisecond and scanned in a few pictures from my clippings collection.

I don't have the entire article they came from (I only have the partial article), but what I have is adorable. I only wish it hadn't been separated.

'Something for the Girls' by Ida Zeitlin'Collapse )

If anyone is interested, I can type of a few more articles (including the bits left of this one), as I recently came into possession of a large collection of them. I'll try and scan some more pictures as soon as my scanner decides to work properly again.

Donald Questions... Any Answers?? [03 Jul 2007|03:02pm]

love4deppenport
So I have been a fan for about a year or so, and I own SITR, Call Me Madam, No Business, Anything Goes, and Out to Sea. I was wondering which others are available to buy on DVD besides those.

I was also wondering about any posters?? Like when his movies came out back when, did they make movie posters to hang up like they do now?? And are they very hard to come by??

And also, is anyone else SUPER-EXCITED that Double Crossbones is coming out on DVD?!?!? Cause I sure am!! Don as a dancin' singin' pirate.. it dont get much better than that!! lol.

Oh, and the more I browse this group, the more I get the feeling its dead... any Donald fans still out there...???

Hello, everyone.
I've been lurking and thought it was time to introduce myself. I'm Rather Shy. I only discovered the beautiful Mr O'Connor a short while ago, when my other half rented Singin' In The Rain</i>. I laughed so much, and from then on, I was in love.

Also, just so this isn't just an obligatory introduction post, I'll start a fun discussion. Has anyone here ever had any dreams about Donald??
Hope that's okay.... :: hides ::

There's No Business Like Show Business [20 Mar 2006|06:44pm]

To keep in theme with the new layout, let's have a discussion about Donald's 1954 movie, There's No Business Like Show Business!

If you'd like a detailed look at the film, you can visit my page on it (not finished yet but nearly there!) here - Donald O'Connor It's under the movies section!

Some questions to get us all started -

Out of Donald's four numbers, which one is your favourite?

What did you think of the pairing of Donald and Marilyn?

Do you think the "deluxe" colour treated Donald well in this film? It's not technicolour, and he looks noticably older than his previous film Call Me Madam!

What did you think of "the slap?"

Overall, how did the movie fair with you?

Call Me Madam [19 Dec 2005|01:40pm]

blackat81
Since I'm guessing that Libby got to see Call Me Madadam this morning, we can now have a proper talk about it!

Let's start the ball rolling-

What was your favourite scene?

What did you think of Donald's glasses?

Any Donald moments that you particularly liked? Eg - line readings?

What's your verdict on the "What chance have I with love?" scene?

etc etc. Make up your own questions of course! My answers-

My favourite scene is a tie between the outdoors (okay, well it was a set but it was supposed to be outdoors!) version of "it's a lovely day today" and "what chance have I with love?" Both are equally great in their own rights, and Donald shines in both of them! Two different dancing styles though - I think this is the first time I've seen him do ballroom type dancing! And his "drunk-dancing-tapping" in "what chance with I with love?" was so adorable!

Donald's glasses - I was expecting them to be circular in shape, like Harry Potter's because I've only seen one still from this movie, and it was from the "You're just in love" scene where he wears his glasses and they looked kinda circular shaped to me. But when I saw the film, I was really surprised how much they suited him! I must say, he looked a little bit like my Dad when he was younger. XD

Hmm, Donald moments. I like the part where he says to the Princess something along the lines of "I don't mind going somewhere private" after she says they can't be seen in public together. It was a quick line, but the way he said it was....okay, indescribable, but you guys are girls right? You know what I mean. :P
I also loved his acting in the scenes where he and Maria are in the Wine Cellar - he makes it seems really believable that Ken is deeply in love with her, but Donald is a good actor so you couldn't expect any less!

I loved the "What chance have I with love?" scene! He is just so adorable when he's drunk (that didn't sound right :P), and his reaction when all the balloons start falling was just perfect! And did anyone start thinking of Gene Kelly when he was hanging off that lamp post and playing the xylaphone? Okay, I've seen it too many times. XD

Hi all,

Note: In order to see all other messages, this community requires you friend this community as well as join. Just simply click on little "friend plus" button on the user-info page. ^^

Welcome to the Donald O'Connor LJ Community! I noticed that there wasn't already one for Mr O'Connor, so I decided to do the right thing and make one, since it's a crime against nature not to have a place dedicated to the man himself! ^^

In this community, feel free to post any icons, pictures, information or just a post to start a chat about Donald O'Connor. I'm a little against advertising, so I'd be grateful if you didn't do it here, unless it's something that is connected to Donald O'Connor, like a Francis community or whatever.

Anyway, enjoy yourselves and let's get started!
